He STILL Wears Diapers

Liam is three years and three months old. He STILL wears diapers. REFUSES to sit on the toilet. I’ve taken the mindset that I would be patient and when he was ready I would roll with it. I have completely changed my mind.

I think the last straw was when he and I had taken and trip to St. Louis and inside the airport Starbucks he announced to me (as he was holding onto a chair for support) that he was POOPING! I’m pretty sure all of the typing stopped and the nearby patrons were peeking up from their laptops to see what was going on. So embarrassing.

Potty TrainingIt was after that moment I realized that I wasn’t going to wait anymore. I am no expert but so many of my friends whose children are of similar age have already paved the way for me. So in the next two weeks I’ll be doing POTTY BOOTCAMP.

What I mean is that I am picking a weekend where we have no plans and I’m going to put Liam in underwear and wait it out. The stakes are high. I just had brand new carpet put in our house.

I know I can’t be the only mom out there with a kid his age not potty trained and I’ll be honest- I do feel a little bit of social pressure. But truly what it comes down to is that our situation right now is perfect to get him potty trained and I’m feeling super motivated with my spray cleaner, rubber gloves and towels by my side. What do I have to lose? (Besides paying for professional carpet cleaning of course!)

Potty update to follow soon! Wish me luck!

Tiffany never dreamed she would be mom material let alone a SAHM! Leaving her full-time job as a marketing manager/graphic designer, Tiffany set out to explore the world of spit-up, Sesame Street and sleep deprivation. Managing her two little ones has definitely proven to be a challenge of patience and will but at the end of the day those sweet faces make each day fulfilling. Married to her husband of ten years, the couple takes every opportunity to explore new places even if it means being out of their comfort zone. Outside of her children and spouse, Tiffany truly enjoys vintage stores, photography with her beloved Nikon, a good facial, wine and chick flicks. Her role at Jacksonville Moms Blog will be to take her readers through the journey of living greener. It’s sure to be a great resource for using easy-to-create household cleaners to what to do with all of that food your toddler just wasted!

  1. This is what we did with Claire and it worked. I will tell you the first 24 hours are the hardest with lots of cleaning. I didn’t throw the diapers away but I hid them in the garage so I wasn’t tempted. Good luck!

  2. Great post – may the mommy force be with you. I think these boys are the one’s hosting boot camp for us 🙂 I still laugh at the wide array of prizes I thought would motivate Tyler. Hopefully all this work will pay off and the girls will be smooth sailing at 2 1/2.

  3. I’ll be posting an update after the weekend to let everyone know how he did! I’m so excited about the possibility of having my first potty trained child!
