Another Reason My Babies Are Britax Babies

Britax knows how to party.

Ok, there’s also unparalleled safety and idiot-mom proof installation–but also, yeah, cupcakes. It’s Child Passenger Safety Month and, last week, Britax and City Moms Blog Network got together with Jacksonville Moms Blog to introduce a group of local parents to the Britax Advocate ClickTight car seat and their new Anti-Rebound Bar. There were the aforementioned Sweet By Holly cupcakes (Red Velvet for the win, always), yummy Native Sun wraps, a sweet gal from Sunny Sitters for our littles, and car seats, car seats, car seats!

With a just barely two-year-old and a five-month-old, we have our share of Britax products already. An infant seat, two convertible car seats, a single stroller, and a double, to be exact. None of our seats have the ClickTight technology, though, so when the opportunity came up to try the Advocate ClickTight seat (and the new Anti-Rebound Bar, which I’d never even heard of) (Seriously, I googled.), I was all in. I’d seen signage in our various baby product haunts–from Buy Buy Baby brick and mortar to Diapers.com online- so I knew how safe and simple the ClickTight was reputed to be.

The Britax Rep was basically the nicest, friendliest girl around and, after teaching our group how to use the ClickTight technology to install a seat, patiently stood in 90-degree sun answering our safety questions. (For example, did you know that NINETY SIX PERCENT of parents think they’re installing their children’s car seats properly, when 3 out of 4 are not? Terrifying.) I know, when installing our previous seats, a lot of our confusion centered around the latch system in my Volkswagen. The Advocate ClickTight uses the vehicle’s seatbelt instead of a latch, whether the seat is rear facing or has already been switched around to face forward. So easy! Three foolproof steps and your seat is safely installed.

Three steps. Three. That's it.
Three steps. Three. That’s it.

The Advocate also features SafeCell impact protection- which features include a stabilizing steel frame, energy absorbing base, V-shaped tether to minimize seat rotation, and staged-release stitches that slow and reduce forward movement during a crash.

New on the safety scene is Britax’s Anti-Rebound Bar. Available as an accessory or with an Advocate, Boulevard or Marathon ClickTight Convertible car seat, the ARB is a padded, steel bar that attaches to the foot-end of the ClickTight convertible car seats and is used when rear-facing only. The bar manages rebound or reactive motion in the opposite direction of impact during a collision; In testing, Britax found that the ARB reduces rebound rotation by 40 percent and stabilizes the car seat during frontal, rear- end and side-impact crashes. It’s one of those things that, once you’re on to it, you can’t quite figure out why it didn’t already exist years ago!

If you’d like to take Britax’s high standards of safety out for a spin yourself, now’s the time. During the month of September, they’re holding the All About Baby Safety Event, wherein select products- car seats among them- are on sale for up to 25% off!

Britax SaleHappy shopping- and safe babies!!

Thanks, Britax, for allowing me to keep my little ones safe with such an innovative, easy to use product!

Born in The Great State of Texas, Erin grew up in Jensen Beach, Florida. After graduating from Florida State University (Go, Noles!), she managed to wrangle herself a career in fashion management and HR; one that allowed her to live in her favorite places- Ft. Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, Palm Beach, & Newport Beach- before her husband, Derek, caught on to her plan. The couple moved to Jacksonville in 2013 for Derek’s second career in the Navy, where they now live happily as a party of four: their son, Mac, joined them in 2014 and their daughter, Josie, came less than two years later. Erin spends her weekends exploring Jacksonville with the fam, her weekdays learning how to be a Stay At Home Mom who’s never at home, and her nights knee-deep in t-shirt designs for Brindle &The Blonde- with one eye on the video monitor, of course.
