Community First Natural Life Music Festival 2015

Natural Life 2015

The Natural Life Music Festival began in 2001 as Crafternoon, a community crafting event led by Natural Life Founder & CEO Patti Hughes. The festival raises funds for charity and offers a FREE, family friendly event for the community! Mark your calendars for Sunday, March 15th! The Metropolitan Park is going to be transformed into an indie-folk festival! The event will include an artisan market, sample sale, crafternoon, food vendors, and so much more. It’s all about the little things that make life so special, so take a day to slow down and enjoy your friends and family!

This year’s band lineup is filled with country to folk Americana music! Take a peek into some of this year’s band lineup:

Horse Feathers

Natural Life 2015

An indie folk band from Portland, Oregon, Horse Feathers consists of singer/songwriter Justin Ringle (acoustic guitar, vocals, percussion) and a rotating cast of supporting musicians. Ringle grew up in Idaho and performed in several short-lived indie rock bands before moving to Portland, where he began playing shows under the name Horse Feathers. It was in Portland that he met Peter Broderick, a member of the established local act Norfolk & Western. The two spent much of 2005 writing songs and honing their live performances at various Portland open-mike nights, effectively turning Horse Feathers from a solo project into a duo.

The Howlin’ Brothers

Natural Life 2015

The Howlin’ Brothers are a three-piece string band that brings heart and passion into every performance. Their upbeat shows are heavy with original and traditional music, featuring the sounds of slide banjo, harmonica and old-time fiddle. The Howlin’ Brothers just released their latest album “TROUBLE” produced by Brendan Benson for Readymade Records. You will find them touring all over North America in 2014, bringing their spirited, roots-based show to the good people.

Mandolin Orange

Natural Life 2015

Mandolin Orange is a Chapel Hill, NC-based band fronted by songwriter Andrew Marlin and vocalist/instrumentalist Emily Frantz. The duo ornaments lyric and harmony-focused tunes with acoustic & electric guitars, fiddle, and mandolin. As a full band they are joined by producers-turned-rhythm section Jeff Crawford (bass) and James Wallace (drums).

Tall Tall Trees

Natural Life 2015

Mike Savino is not your granddaddy’s banjo player, and Tall Tall Trees is definitely not your average indie-folk outfit from NYC. Savino has released two records on his own start-up label Good Neighbor Records, Tall Tall Trees (2009), and moment (2012), and has toured extensively, mystifying audiences with his innovative banjo technique. Whether performing with a full band or solo, Savino runs his instrument, dubbed by fans as the “space banjo” or “banjotron”, through a slab of effects and loopers, bowing, drumming, and strumming out multi-textured arrangements on the fly to support his lyrically driven songs.

Judah & the Lion

Natural Life 2015

“Friend of a friend” is the way it all came together, three very different people from very different places, united by a shared love of music.  As a band, Judah & the Lion owes much to fate and to the small town feel of Nashville, the city that brought the trio together from scattered parts of the country.  The three met while attending Belmont University in the city, introduced to each other through music and mutual friends.
