Hello, September! Hello, fall! Summer is unofficially over after Labor Day weekend passes but we’ve rounded up some exciting events going on in and around town for the whole family to enjoy to help you welcome the fall season. Keep checking back as we continue to update this month’s activities and check out the calendar for more fun events!

Sept 1-4: Labor Day Weekend at the Jacksonville Zoo The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens celebrates Labor Day Weekend with an admission special. Buy one regularly priced ticket, get a general admission ticket of equal or lesser value free.

Sept. 1-4: Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp vs. Pensacola Blue Wahoos The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp take on the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. Single game tickets start at $5, with multi-game and group packages available. Public parking costs $7 and is controlled by the City of Jacksonville.

Sept. 1: Weaver First Saturday Free For All: 10:00 am  Guests can enjoy free admission, as well as art-making activities for all ages in the Cummer Gardens, live music, and a Docent-led tour at 2 pm.

Sept. 2: Ink, Silk, and Gold Closing Celebration at the Cummer Museum 10:00 am Ink, Silk, and Gold Closing Celebration at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. No registration is required. Visit Ink, Silk, and Gold one last time before it leaves Jacksonville. Enjoy live music, art demonstrations, hands-on art-making activities, and performances arranged to celebrate this memorable exhibition.

Sept. 2: Labor Day Weekend Luau 4:00 pm Grab your Hawaiian shirts, coconut bras and grass skirts and join us on Saturday, September 2nd for a Labor Day Weekend Luau! Tropical Beers, Ciders and Meads Food Specials LIVE MUSIC and HULA SHOW with Kalani Rose 6 pm-9 pm Don’t forget to dress up!

Sept. 3: Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary Enrichment Day 1:00 pm Enjoy a guided tour of all the residents (Siberian tigers, lions, cougars, black leopards, a bobcat, coatimundis and foxes) at our sanctuary! Tours begin at 1:00 PM and last about 45 minutes. Tours include a viewing of all our residents, as time allows, along with facts about the animals.

Sept. 8: Rethreaded’s Fall Garden Concert Party 6:00 pm Join us for our Fall Garden Concert featuring Strangerwolf and Folk is People! Bring your fold out chairs to this family-friendly community event. Enjoy beer + wine, delish eats and shopping for a cause! What could be better than live tunes, happy hour fun, good eats AND shopping for freedom?!

Sept. 8: Wild For Reading hosted by the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens 10:00 am The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is Wild for Reading and we want to share some of our favorite children’s books with you this International Literacy Day! We will have local celebrities reading classic, animal-themed books as well as some fun arts and crafts for the whole family to enjoy! The event is from 10 am to 12 pm on Friday, September 8, and is free to attend with regular zoo admission. Along with the exciting activities that we have planned, the Jacksonville Children’s Commission will be here to give out backpacks and join in on the Literacy Day festivities.

Sept. 9-10: Fall Arts & Crafts Show 9:00 am Admission: $3 Arts & Crafts Show ‑ benefits go to the Morocco Shrine.

Sept. 9: Riding the Rails: Pablo Beach Train Day 9:30 am Presented by the Beaches Museum & History Park, Riding the Rails: Pablo Beach Train Day will celebrate all things trains on Saturday, September 9, from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Sept. 9: Bruval Craft and Beer Fest 2017 12:00 pm Bruval is a one-day event celebrating the rapidly growing craft beer movement. Featuring North Florida’s top craft breweries and beyond, this event will highlight the area’s greatest flavors right in the heart of Jacksonville Beach at the Seawalk Pavilion.

Sept. 10: Ponte Vedra Auto Show 9:00 am The St. Johns County (SJC) Chamber of Commerce will host the 15th annual Ponte Vedra Auto Show presented by Fields Auto Group on Sunday, September 10, 2017, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Nocatee Town Center. The Auto Show, which is open and free to spectators.

Sept. 10: Grandparent’s Day Celebration 12:00 pm A great FREE event in Downtown Jacksonville to celebrate not only grandparents, but the whole family. Activities for multi-generations. Food trucks, Mermaid Beth appearance, face painting, yard games, music, live entertainment and MORE!

 

Sept. 11: Vegan Chefs Table at Hobnob 11:00 am Hobnob boasts one of the most beautiful dining spaces in all of the first coast. With their recent upgraded happy hour offerings and their eclectic fine dining menu, Hobnob is an ideal place to do just that- hobnob! Join us for a Vegan Dinner Adventure inspired by the bounty of the Earth.

Sept. 17: Talk Like a Pirate Day at the Jacksonville Zoo Ahoy! Calling all seadogs, cap’ns, and landlubbers alike! The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is hosting Talk Like a Pirate Day on Sunday, September 17 and we want you to come join us for the festivities. We will have fun photo opportunities, unique arts and crafts, and some of our very own local pirates roaming the grounds. As a bonus, if you arrive dressed as a pirate you will receive a free ticket to Campground Critters! So throw on your best puffy shirt, practice your pirate lingo, and come on out to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens for Talk Like a Pirate Day!

 

Sept. 19: JMB Zoo Playdate 9:30 am The Jacksonville Moms Blog Neighborhood & Community groups will host a monthly Zoo playdate on the third Tuesday of every month. This is a great way to get out with the kids, meet other moms, and explore the Zoo! Not in our groups?

Sept. 19: Cocktails & Bites at Bellwether 6:00 pm We’re thrilled to host this exciting event at Bellwether with Natedoesfood! Join us as we explore tasty bites and craft cocktails from one of Jacksonville’s hottest new restaurants! Come mix and mingle with other local moms and enjoy a night out!

 Sept. 23: Estuary Fest 10:00 am Join us for lots of free fun and games and help us celebrate National Estuaries Week and learn about our beautiful oceans, rivers, and estuaries. This family-friendly event will have activities, art, music, food and prizes!

Sept. 23: Reef league 10:00 am Reef League is a marine aquarium expo held at the famous World Golf Village in St. Augustine Florida. Reef League is an energetic environment that will have vendors for all of your aquarium needs. A special guest performance by Florida’s very own DJ Douge Poole.

Sept. 29: Oktoberfest Jacksonville 2017 3:00 pm Oktoberfest Jacksonville celebrates German cuisine, culture and craft beer with weekend-long event in Jacksonville, Florida.

Sept. 29-30: Isle of Faith Pumpkin Patch The Isle of Faith Pumpkin Patch includes Hay Maze, Children’s Play Area, lots of Photo Ops, Best and freshest pumpkins in Jacksonville. Admission Free. Pumpkins sold by donation.

Sept. 29-30: Tommy’s Pumpkin Patch and Fun Zone Experience Fall at its best at Tommy’s Pumpkin Patch and Fun Zone.

Sept. 29-30: Mandarin United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch Located in Mandarin, the Mandarin United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch is one of the biggest in the city.

Sept. 29-30: Jax Haunted Brewery Zombie Hunt The Haunted Brewery experience at Anheuser-Busch Brewery is a festival experience programmed with many attractions, including the apocalyptic zombie hunt. Grab your squadron and make your way through the brewery, ridding it of zombies through a first person laser tag experience.

Sept. 30: Oakleaf Fall Expo 9:00 am Save the Date and bring the whole family! We will have over 75 vendors along with some of the Best Food in Orange Park. Lots of activities and contests for the kids. Train Rides, Rock Wall, Bounce Houses, Human Bowling balls and so much more.

Sept. 30: Fee-Free Day at all National Parks During the fee free days, all National Park Service sites will waive their entrance fees for all visitors. Usually, 124 of the 413 national parks charge entrance fees that range from $3 to $30.

Sept. 1-10: Dinosaurs in Motion at MOSH Dinosaurs in Motion is an interactive, engaging STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) exhibition that is truly for visitors of all ages. Dinosaurs in Motion engages and educates by using 14 magnificent, fully interactive, recycled life-size metal dinosaur sculptures inspired by actual fossils.

 Sept. 28-30: Jacksonville Home and Patio Show  Admission ONLINE Adults 13 & Up – $9.00 BOX OFFICE Adults 13+ – $11.00 Seniors 60+ – $5.00 (Thursday Only. Must purchase ticket at box office) Children Ages 6 – 12 – $5.00 (Must purchase ticket at the box office) Children Ages 5 & Under – FREE All ticket types above are good for any single day of the show.
