Aug. 1, 2, 3, and 14: 2017 Jaguars Training Camp 10:30 am Fans can attend the Jaguars training camp practices held at the Practice Fields at EverBank Field on July 27, 28, 31, August 1, 2, 3, 14 (vs Bucs), 15 (vs Bucs). Gates open each day 30 minutes prior to practice beginning. Parking is free in Lots M and N.
Aug. 2: Jacksonville Downtown Art Walk Back to School artSMARTS 5:00 pm Downtown Art Walk is celebrating back to school with fun activities for kids including art activities, music, bounce houses, story time, and vendors with information about back to school dance, sports, and after school programs.
Aug. 4-6: Tax-Free Weekend 2017 The Florida Sales Tax Holiday 2017 kicks off on Friday, August 4th, 2017 and will end Sunday August 6th, 2017. CLOTHING Up to $60 each. Florida legislators were a little more generous than years past. Garments and accessories are tax free up to $60 each.
Aug. 4: Jaguars to host Florida Blue Family Night Practice at EverBank Field 5:00 pm The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced plans for the annual Florida Blue Family Night Practice at EverBank Field on Friday, August 4. Gates will open at 5 p.m. prior to the team’s practice from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event is open to the public for fans who register in advance at www.jaguars.com/familynight.
Aug. 4: Movie Under the Stars 7:30 pm The Avenues is kicking off Back to School and Tax-Free Weekend with Movie Under the Stars on Friday, August 4, 2017! Bring the whole family to enjoy “Moana” in Center Court. Head phones will be provided for each attendee so “lei” back and enjoy the movie! You need to register to reserve your spot.
Aug. 5: 4th Annual Free Summer Vendor & Craft Event 10:00 am Jacksonville Business Connections is excited to host our 4th Summer Craft & Vendor Event featuring ~150 vendors and crafters at the Renaissance World Golf Village Resort August 5th from 10am-4pm Free to the public and kid friendly event. Aug. 5: Touch a Truck 10:00 am Help us kick off Tax- Free Weekend with The Zone 3 Sheriff’s Watch Safety Fair and Touch a Truck on Saturday, August 5th from 10 am- 2 pm The event will be held inside the mall and in the parking garage. Aug. 5: Through The Eyes Of a Child: Kids Helping Kids Art Auction 2:00 pm On Saturday, August 5 Impact Learning Center is hosting a Kids Art Auction and Open House! There will be a Kids Zone with games, face painting, arts and crafts, access to their playground, live music, snacks, and more!
August 5: Blue Jean and Bow Tie Gala 4:00 pm Guests are treated to a personal tour of Celestial Farms, hors d’oeuvres, specialty drinks and a silent auction. The party continues down the road at the Anheuser-Busch Jacksonville Brewery for a multi-course dinner. Tickets are $50.
Aug. 6: Back to School Fashion Show 6:00 pm Back to School shopping starts at The Avenues! Shop all of the hottest trends and celebrate Tax-Free Weekend with our Back to School Fashion Show. Aug. 11: Night at the Zoo 5:30 pm See the Zoo in a whole new light during our Night at the Zoo events! Join us from 6:30-10:00 pm for live music, food trucks, cash bars, plus your chance to see the animals on exhibit until 8:30pm. There will be animal encounters, keeper talks, bounce houses and more.
Aug. 11: Reel Fun Night 6:00 pm Come to Town Hall Park for a Reel Fun Night this summer. Kids activities start at 6 pm and the movie will begin at sundown (about 8:30 pm). Be sure to bring a blanket to sit on. There will be popcorn and other foods available for purchase. All movies are family-friendly.
Aug. 11: Stuffed Animal Sleepover 6:30 pm Wear your pajamas and bring a stuffed animal for craft time and a bedtime story! Then, your stuffed animal can stay for a slumber party (optional), eating snacks, playing in the store, exploring downtown and probably staying up very late!
Aug. 11-13: Jacksonville Caribbean Carnival: The Spirit Awakens 9:00 pm Carnival is unequivocally the universal event that brings together everything that is remotely connected to the Caribbean. From authentic food, music and dance you name it, it’s there in its entirety.
Aug. 12: Jacksonville Caribbean Carnival 1:00 pm Celebrating all Caribbean cultures, the Jacksonville Caribbean Carnival features everything from a street parade featuring Caribbean costumes and music, to an elaborate food festival highlighting all the flavors and aromas of Caribbean food, as well as Caribbean craft displays and catchy steel drum music and live performances.
Aug. 12: Movie Under the Stars 7:30 pm MOVIE UNDER THE STARS AT ST. JOHNS TOWN CENTER A family friendly evening to benefit Wolfson Children’s Hospital. St. Johns Town Center is hosting the ultimate way for families to stretch their entertainment dollars, just in time for back to school on Saturday, August 12, 2017 with Movies Under the Stars!
Aug. 19: Congaree and Penn Open Farm Day 10:00 am On Saturday, August 19, Congaree and Penn Farm is excited to host their Open Farm Day. From 10-1 pm, they will open their doors for friends and families to explore the farm by foot or by bike, take farm tours, and enjoy the property.
Aug. 19: Festival of the Chariot 12:00 pm The 15th Annual Festival of the Chariot will be held on August 19th from Noon to 10 PM. The Beach procession will take place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM which will begin at the end of Beach Boulevard on the Beach to 8th Avenue N and turn around and back to the Seawalk Pavilion. After the procession there will be a Cultural Program from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Aug. 19: Science of Parenthood Live! 7:00 pm Named one of TODAYParents’ Funniest Parents of 2015, longtime magazine writer turned “parenting snarkologist,” Norine Dworkin-McDaniel is co-creator (with cartoonist Jessica Ziegler) of Science of Parenthood, one of the most popular sites for parenting laughs, and the award-winning book that came out of it, Science of Parenthood: Thoroughly Unscientific Explanations for Utterly Baffling Parenting Situations.
Aug. 20: Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary Enrichment Day 1:00 pm Enjoy a guided tour of all the residents (Siberian tigers, lions, cougars, black leopards, a bobcat, coatimundis and foxes) at our sanctuary! Tours begin at 1:00 PM and last about 45 minutes.
Aug. 25: Free National Park Day 8:00 am Celebrate the birthday of the National Park Service on August 25th with free entrance to all National Parks. Jacksonville’s closest National Park that charges admission is Castillo De San Marcos in St. Augustine.
August 26: Tijuana Flats Summer 5K Beach Run 6:00 pm The Tijuana Flats Summer Beach Run event consists of a 5 mile and 1 mile run on the firmly packed sand at Jacksonville Beach. After the conclusion of the run, a huge post-race celebration will be held featuring a live band, free beer, and tacos from Tijuana Flats.
August 26: The Landing Lights Up August! 5:00 pm Join The Jacksonville Landing and 96.1 WEJZ for The Landing Lights Up Summer! The Jacksonville Landing will light up this summer with fireworks and the best bands around! Bring your friends and family for a night filled with music 🎶, drinks 🍺, good food and FIREWORKS! The Landing Lights up Summer is brought to you by Sleiman Enterprises.
Aug. 1-12: Into the Woods 7:30 pm Into the Woods, the award winning musical by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim, combines a number of familiar fairy tales and shows us what happened after they lived happily ever after. Familiar characters include Jack (and the Beanstalk), Little Red Ridinghood and the Wolf, Cinderella, and others.
Aug. 1-9: Ripley’s Free Summer Movie Series 8:30 am The Summer movie series has moved to a new home this summer. Ripley’s has teamed up with the St. Augustine Colonial Quarter and together, we will present a great movie line up starting June 7th. All movies begin at 8:30pm at the Colonial Oak Music Park located at 27 St. George Street. Ripley’s Red Trains will once again provide complimentary transportation from the parking garage stop and Ripley’s to the top of St. George Street for all guests.
Aug. 1-31: Sounds on Centre 6:00 pm Sounds on Centre is a free event, fun for the entire family. Concerts are on First Fridays through October. Sounds on Centre is located at the intersection of Second Street and Centre Street in Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach Florida. Shows are from 6pm to 8pm. Sounds on Centre T-shirts will be available for purchase. Raffle drawings will be held throughout the event with prizes donated by local community businesses and retailers.
Aug. 1: Park Hop: St. Augustine Davenport Park 9:00 am Featuring the J&S full-size antique carousel, Davenport Park includes a playground, with swings, monkey bars, slides (both open and closed), and a handicapped-accessible play structure. Kids love the unique carousel, and they can hop on for $1 a ride.
Aug. 4: Park Hop: Ed Austin Park 9:00 am Ed Austin Regional Park, located at Monument and McCormick in Arlington is a huge, amazing park. The playground is in a nicely shaded area, the fields will be fun for games.
Aug. 8: Park Hop: Jack Russell 9:00 am Our Park Hop finale will be at Russell Park, located in Atlantic Beach. Join us as we celebrate an amazing summer at one of the beaches best parks!
