Spring is here! The warmer weather is perfect for outdoor spring activities and we have a list of family-friendly events happening in and around Jax for the month of April. There are plenty of Easter events, egg hunts, and festivals to keep you and your kids entertained. Keep checking back for more events as we add them to the list!
March 30 – April 8: Clay County Fair The Clay County Agricultural Fair returns to Green Cove Springs March 30 to April 8. There will be Team Rock Ninja Experience, Disc-Connectted K9’s World Famous Frisbee Dogs, 4H / FFA Youth Dairy Show, Main Street Parade, a Talent Show, and more. Regular Gate Admission is $10 for adults, 13 to 64; $7 for seniors (65+); and $7 for children, 6 to 12. Advanced tickets are available for purchase through March 29. Ride armbands and concert tickets are also available for purchase.
April 1 – 9: Educator Appreciation Days 9:00 – 9:00 pm Pre-K through 12 educators: join us during these special days for deeper discounts, events, tech product demonstrations, giveaways and more. Also, enter for a chance to win a $1,000 Barnes & Noble gift card.
April 1: Greenscape Tree Festival 10:00 – 4:00 pm The free, family-focused fundraising event will take place April 1, Jacksonville’s official Arbor Day. Greenscape will give away 5,000 trees to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis. Activities will include children’s arts and crafts, a petting zoo, entertainment and educational talks on trees and the environment. A dog fashion show and adoption opportunity will be presented. Specially selected vendors and food trucks, including beer, will be available onsite.
April 2: 2nd annual World Autism Awareness Day Kickoff 10:00 – 1:00 pm Join us on April 2nd as we celebrate at the World Autism Awareness Day Kickoff! We are calling on everyone to promote support, inclusion, and understanding of families and individuals with autism. Show your support by being a part of the “Friends with Autism” community outreach initiative launching at the Kickoff!
April 3 – 7: Public Art Week 2017 Public Art Week is a week-long celebration of public art in Jacksonville, Florida. It is curated to encourage residents to explore and encounter public art throughout all of Jacksonville, with concentrated efforts in the urban core and coincides with new streetscape art installations.
April 4: Florida Blue Free Tuesdays Cummer Museum 4:00 – 9:00 pm Every Tuesday, enjoy free admission to the Cummer Museum and its historic Gardens, thanks to the generous support of Florida Blue.
April 6: Alhambra Children’s Theatre Matinee: The Ugly Duckling 10:00 – 11:30 am When a little duckling with a unique look and a heart of gold, is born in an average marsh to an average duck family, he struggles to find his place in life. After dealing with bullies and the dangers of the world, watch the ugly duckling learn that true friends love you for who you are and new friends can be found where you least expect them. This show is a fun journey through live theatre with an important message slipped in for good measure!
April 6: Penelope T x Hotel Palms Fashion Show 6:00 – 9:30 pm You are invited to a Spring 2017 Fashion Presentation hosted by Penelope T and Hotel Palms. Enjoy cocktails and light bites inside the newly renovated Hotel Palms Courtyard before settling in for a sunset fashion show, presented by Penelope T. On-site pop-up shops with Penelope T and Gypset & Pearl will be stocked full of fresh spring merchandise to round out this stylish evening.
April 8: Run for Peace 8:00 – 12:00 pm Join us for a family friendly 5K and help support your local community. The Run for Peace 5k will be on April 8th, at the St. Augustine Beach Pier. Proceeds will help Betty Griffin Center saves the lives of domestic and sexual abuse victims in St. Johns County.
April 8: Peter Cottontail Express Varies Journey to Peter Cottontail’s home in the woodlands where Peter boards the train to mingle with all the good little boys and girls. Easter egg hunt after each ride at the train station.
April 8: Special at the Throttle Experience Varies A once in a lifetime opportunity to actually RUN a powerful DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE! You’re at the controls. Imagine the bragging rights, and you get a certificate to prove it.
April 8: 22nd Annual ExZOOberation: Conservation Celebration 7:00 – 11:00 am Join us as we celebrate conservation during the 22nd anniversary of ExZOOberation at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. ExZOOberation is a casual, adult evening fundraiser to benefit the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens.
April 8: Jaffi’s and Kyds Annual Fashion Show 3:00 – 6:00 pm Join us for Jaffi’s & Kyds Annual Fashion Show Celebration for Dreams Come True of Jacksonville! All proceeds from the event are directed 100% toward a local child’s dream through Dreams Come True. April 8: Vision Is Priceless’ 34th Annual BBQ & Western 5:00 – 9:00 pm Get your boots, scoot on over to the Jacksonville Fairgrounds and boogie with us on Saturday, April 8 from 5-9 p.m. for the 34th Annual BBQ & Western benefitting Vision Is Priceless Council. A longtime annual tradition on the First Coast, the BBQ & Western is known for amazing food and great entertainment.
April 8: Daily’s Fit-4-Life Kids Duathlon 8:00 – 12:00 pm Please join us for the 2nd Annual Daily’s Fit-4-Life Kids Duathlon, exciting community event hosted by Riverside Presbyterian Day School (RPDS).
April 8 – 9: Bradford County Strawberry Festival Saturday, 9 – 7 pm Sunday, 9 – 5 pm Free admission. There will be food and craft vendors, helicopter rides, Relay for Life 2017/Strawberry Stampeded 5K Fun Run, kids’ rides at $1 each, and entertainment. The race/walk starts at 8 am on Saturday, April 8th.
April 9: Sweet Pete’s Annual Easter Bash 11 – 3 pm Sweet Pete’s Candy in downtown Jacksonville is excited to announce this year’s Easter Bash right in front of our beautiful downtown candy mansion at 400 North Hogan Street.
April 9: Second Sundays in Springfield 4:00 – 7:00 pm We’re excited to announce Second Sundays in Springfield, a monthly event in beautiful Henry J. Klutho Park beginning this April from 4 pm to 7 pm. Join us for live music, food trucks and craft brews, produce market, local vendors, and fun & games for the whole family.
April 10: Heart for Children Inc. Charity Golf Tournament 8:00 – 3:00 pm Heart for Children Inc. will host its Inaugural Charity Golf Tournament at Deer Creek Country Club in Jacksonville, Florida on Monday, April 10, 2017. Proceeds raised will go towards nutritional meals, field trips, transportation, and other activities for the summer camp and other programs for at-risk youth of Northeast Florida.
April 10: Florida Gopher Tortoise Day 9:00 – 10:00 am Meet at the first lake parking lot next to the playground. Please join us for a ranger-lead morning walk and talk about the importance of these reptiles for Florida ecosystems. Meet a live gopher tortoise, help rangers map their burrows and take home some informative pages for coloring.
April 12: Jumbo Shrimp Opening Day 6:00 – 10:00 pm First pitch is set for 7:05 pm, the gates open at 6 pm and the first 5,000 fans will receive a FREE magnet schedule and detachable Jumbo Shrimp car magnet. Stick around after the game as we light up the sky with our first of fifteen fireworks shows!
April 13 – 16: Disney on Ice Worlds of Enchantment Enter the dazzling world of Disney magic Live On Ice! Rev up for non-stop fun with four of your favorite Disney stories at Disney On Ice presents Worlds of Enchantment.
April 14: Easter In The Park at Jarboe Park 10 – 12 pm Egg hunt, a visit by the Easter Bunny, face painting, bouncy houses, train rides and many other fun and exciting activities!
April 15 – 16: Fee-Free Day at all National Parks 8:00 – 5:00 pm During the fee-free days, all National Park Service sites will waive their entrance fees for all visitors. Usually, 124 of the 413 national parks charge entrance fees that range from $3 to $30.
April 15: Celestial Farms Spring Fling 9:00 am Celebrate with us at our amazing Spring with an Easter Egg Hunt, Craft and Vendor Fair, Raffles, Tours, and Rabbit Hole! As always, no admission or parking fees, $3 train and pony rides as well as $3 unlimited bounce house.
April 15: Jacksonville Arboretum Discovering Nature Nearby 9:30 – 10:30 am Discover Herpetofauna Venomous snakes at the Jacksonville Arboretum during the Discovering Nature Nearby experience.
April 15: City of Jacksonville Beach Easter Egg Hunt 10:00 – 11:00 am Join us for the 33rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt! The Egg Hunt is open to all participants up to age 8.
April 15: Earth Day at Camp Chowenwaw Park 10:00 – 3:00 pm Camp Chowenwaw County Park will celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 15, 2017, from 10 am to 3 pm with various activities.
April 15: St. Johns County Parks & Recreation Easter Egg Hunts 10:30 – 11:30 am St. Johns County Parks & Recreation will be hosting four Easter Egg Hunts this year. The first two will be held on Thursday, April 13 from 10:30 am until 11:30 am at two local parks, Veterans Park located at 1332 Veterans Parkway, St. Johns, Palencia located at 405 Palencia Village Dr., St. Augustine.
April 15: Candy-Free Easter Egg Hunt 2:00 – 4:00 pm Healthy Halloween Jax has teamed up with the Food Allergy Families of Northeast Florida to create a safe Easter event for children who are not able to participate because there’s always FOOD ALLERGENS around and to healthy parents who also choose not to have candy as an instant reward.
April 15: Adam Sandler wtih David Spade, Nick Swardson and Rob Schneider 7:30 – 10:30 pm Four of today’s best-known comics are coming to the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on April 15 – Adam Sandler, David Spade, Nick Swardson and Rob Schneider – as part of the Netflix presents Sandy Wexler’s “Here Comes the Funny Tour.”
April 16: The Egg Hunt & Marketplace at Congaree and Penn 1:00 – 5:00 pm Hip hop hooray! Congaree and Penn is excited to host its first annual Egg Hunt and Marketplace on Sunday, April 16th from 1:00-5:00. Bring the kids for a free egg hunt*! The hunt is on at 2:30 for hundreds of eggs waiting to be found. A lucky few just might discover a golden egg!
April 16: St. Augustine Easter Parade 3:00 pm The annual St. Augustine Easter Parade features marching bands, floats, drill teams, clowns, the Easter Bunny, the Royal Family and more.
April 18: 2017 Women of Vision Celebration Luncheon 11:00 – 1:00 pm Women of Vision Celebration fundraising luncheon will raise awareness about global, national and local girls’ issues and challenges, the importance and relevance of the Girls Inc. mission in our world today and how it helps girls overcome myriad challenges, and celebrates the achievements of the girls it serves as well as the women honorees it recognizes each year.
April 20: Rising Stars! 6:00 – 9:00 pm CISJax is gearing up for its 2nd Annual Rising Stars! Event, which will be held on Thursday, April 20th, 2017 at the historic Florida Theatre. This fundraising event will feature 10 acts performed by students that participate in a CIS program.
April 22: Healthy Kids Day 9:00 – 1:00 pm Located at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville in partnership with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp Nothing charges up kids like summer—and Healthy Kids Day® is the Y’s official start to the BEST SUMMER EVER!
April 22: Carrie Clarke Day in Orange Park 11:00 – 4:00 pm FREE Join us for Carrie Clarke Day – A Celebration of History in Orange Park. The event will take place at the beautiful Clarke House Park on Kingsley Ave. You will enjoy historic demonstrations, tours, live music, hayrides and, of course, the playground! Admission is free! Vendors are available so you may want to bring some cash.
April 22: Roscolusa Songwriters Festival 4:00 – 10:00 pm Roscolusa was started as a songwriters festival in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL in 2012. The name is based on our original location, a waterfront property off Roscoe Blvd. This year we will be entertaining at Nocatee Town Center and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund. Family atmosphere with kid zone!

April 28: Juvenile Arthritis Family Day 6:00 – 10:00 pm All families with arthritis are invited to join the Arthritis Foundation for a fun evening at a Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp game. Food, fun and fireworks with the opportunity to meet and network with other families.
April 29: 2017 Joseph A. Strasser Butterfly Festival 10:00 – 4:00 pm This year we are celebrating our 15th anniversary of the festival and are planning for it to be the best year yet. Each year, Tree Hill Nature Center hosts this unique community event that culminates in a live butterfly release. The event has animal encounters, live music and games, as well as crafts and more!
April 29: Children’s Business Fair 11:00 – 2:00 pm The Acton Children’s Business Fair is the largest entrepreneurship event for kids in North America. The one-day Business Fair is a culmination of ideas and hard work from great young minds. Kids develop a brand, create a product or service, build a marketing strategy, and then open for customers at our one-day marketplace.
April 29-30: The Makery Indie Market 11:00 – 4:00 pm The Makery is a curated market where independent artists, designers, creative entrepreneurs along with the local community can gather and inspire one another. It is a fun and lively event with make-and-take workshops, DIY demonstrations, and music along with artisanal food and drink. Handmade, reclaimed, and vintage items will be featured with a focus on fresh design and exceptional workmanship.
April 30: Opening of the Beaches 2:00 pm A Beaches tradition. Bring the family out to this local community parade. The beach is not “officially” open for the season until the parade has made its way up and down 1st and 2nd Streets North.
April 30: 2017 Celebrate GOOD Festival 1:00 – 5:00 pm There will be live music, celebrity appearances, food, activities for the whole family, volunteer opportunities and a special Walk of Service Hall of Fame honoring individuals truly dedicated to helping nonprofit organizations, schools, and hungry families.
January 14 – May 8: Nature Connects: Art with LEGO Bricks at the Jacksonville Zoo Get Connected…to Nature! The award-winning Nature Connects: Art With LEGO Bricks exhibition by world-renowned artist, Sean Kenney, is coming to Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens! The exhibition features 13 LEGO sculptures with over 300,000 bricks.The exhibit is free with admission and will have the sculptures and LEGO play stations in the Range of the Jaguar, Play Park and the Asian Gardens. The sculptures will have a strong conservation message, play a part in a scavenger hunt that will come with the map, and will inspire guests to really get connected… to nature!
March 14 – May 29: The Wilderness of North Florida’s Parks Exhibit An installation by 2017 Artist in Residence Kathy Stark that examines 16 public parks in the Jacksonville area and encourages visitors to explore them.
March 14 – May 14: Catty Shack Ranch Sanctuary Enrichment Day Enjoy a guided tour of all the residents (Siberian tigers, lions, cougars, black leopards, a bobcat, coatimundis and foxes) at the sanctuary. Tours begin at 1 pm and last about 45 minutes. Tours include a viewing of all the residents, as time allows, along with facts about the animals.
March 24 – April 15: Easter Bunny Photo Experience Orange Park Mall’s Easter Bunny Photo Experience will give families the opportunity to capture special springtime memories. Children can visit with the Easter Bunny and parents are welcome to purchase professional photos of the fun occasion. March 31 – May 26: The Art of Healing Exhibition The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach presents The Art of Healing Exhibition. An exhibition celebrating the healing effects of the arts through music, art-making and art interpretation. The exhibition will showcase children’s work from Art with a Heart in Healthcare, body painting portraits from Heather Aguilera’s Living Art Project, and Pablo Rivera’s portrait photography of the Cultural Center’s music therapy program for children with special abilities.
