Giving Back One LivNGrace Bracelet at a Time

You may have seen these really cute bracelets around town in Rosie True or on the wrists of some of your best friends. Do you know the story behind them? We are so excited to partner with Jax Moms Blog to help spread the word. The bracelets tell a tough, but also heartwarming story that will make you go through a range of emotions – but mostly love. The bracelets tell a story about the love of a family, the love of a community and most especially the love of a young girl that was contagious.

McKenzie Noelle Wilson was a kind, responsible, considerate and beautiful young woman whose personality made her friends, family, and everybody she encountered want to be more passionate and positive. In 2010, at the age of 15, McKenzie passed away from a rare and sudden illness.

McKenzie’s family and friends were in shock and as a coping mechanism, started beading bracelets. LivNGrace Bracelets were created to honor the young lady who embodied faith, love, hope, peace, and transformation. The virtues that McKenzie embodied are represented on each bracelet with a cross, heart, flower, peace sign or a butterfly.

Her family and friends started selling the bracelets in local schools and soon local boutiques wanted to help. From the success of the bracelets, the Wilson family started a foundation, the McKenzie Noelle Wilson Foundation — dedicated to helping young people recognize their full potential by providing programs that encourage caring for others.

McKenzie’s story was spreading quickly and parents and teens were encouraged alike. When the bracelets received a feature on The Today Show with Kathie Lee & Hoda, sales of the bracelets started booming and the foundation needed a partner to help manufacturer so many bracelets.

We were so honored when they asked us to partner with them. We had heard McKenzie’s story and were so inspired by what her friends and family were doing to continue her legacy.  This past January, we started selling the bracelets and giving the profits back to the foundation.

Even though our apparel line gives back, it felt great to be able to sell a product that was 100% about helping others. It certainly made it better that the bracelets were super cute!

One of the really cool things that the foundation does is support an orphanage, called Amaka ga McKenzie, or “McKenzie’s Home” in Uganda.  We love seeing their photos when they get back from visiting!

Locally, they run McKenzie’s Academic Resource Center (MARC) which provides free academic programs to students living in two Jacksonville communities. Programs include after-school mentoring for elementary, middle and high school students, early learning programs for young children, special teen development programs, and English and family programs for adults.

Each bracelet comes in a really cute organza bag with the story! Spread the word and help us support the foundation!
