There is something special about the fall season that brings a unique sense of “new beginnings” back into our lives. The sun’s warmth is more forgiving and we begin welcoming the comforting feeling of putting on a nice cozy cardigan and our favorite pair of jeans. It’s a season that warrants a large cup of pumpkin spice coffee over an open and honest conversation about our closets.

1. All things off the shoulder – This is HUGE this fall. Shoulders are sexy and a bit intriguing, but nowhere near scandalous, which is why we love showing them off. Find soft shoulders peeking through tops, sweaters and dresses featured in magazines and at your favorite brunch spot this season. Tip for this look: Use double sided tape to keep off shoulder sleeves from slipping.
2. Fur – Whether it’s the real deal or ferocious faux (the choice is yours), this voluptuous trend is mostly seen in vests of various colors and styles. We pair them with lightweight blouses or long-sleeved jersey tees.
3. Ruffles – Is there anything more beautifully timeless? Feminine and flirty, ruffles add a softer “edge” to otherwise basic wear. Tip for this look: Add a feminine ruffle blouse to a sophisticated two-piece suit for conference room chic, or pair it with black leather leggings and studded ankle booties to step out like a rock star.
4. Boots – A staple for the season every year, but for 2016, both ankle booties and over the knee boots are hot again. Bring them all out of the closet!
5. Plaid– It used to be this look was popular for school uniforms, lumberjacks, and mountain men, but those days are gone and we are seeing it more and more in some of the hottest trends in female fashion. Top designers have all incorporated the look into their collections for the season; some with studs, stones and metallic add-ons, but sticking true to the traditional print.
