Ideas for Saving Holiday Cards

It’s one of the best things leading up to the Holidays, right!? Checking the mail each day wondering whose cards you’ll receive next. I love seeing what everyone has been up to throughout the year (even if they are on Facebook). But come January I just don’t have the heart to throw all those cards away. So, we’ve decided to save them! Here are some great and creative ideas for saving your holiday cards each year in ways that you will enjoy for years to come!

Holiday Card Book

This is by far the most popular and simplest idea I’ve come across! Simply punch holes in the cards and either put together with binder rings or tie together with ribbon. You can make a consistent cover that you can change the date on each year and print out. I really love the look behind this concept from eighteen25. You can find these binder rings online at Amazon or any office supply store.

Holiday Card Binder or Scrapbook

For the very creative (and more ambitious), you can get a blank scrapbook and document each Christmas however you see fit. It’s homemade and sure to be memorable to look at! Plus you can get your kids in on decorating the pages. What fun it would be to look back over the years and see how your kids’ handwriting has changed each year. It would be great to include your kids’ Christmas lists, school crafts, and other special things from the Holidays. I really liked this post from Cleverly Simple.

A less expensive idea is to pick up a binder and fill it with sheet protectors. Just slide cards into the sheet protectors and make a binder cover for each year! Super easy!!! Check out this post from Tatertots and Jello for lots of ideas on how to get organized after the Holidays!

Document Digitally

This is my favorite idea because I love technology and less clutter! Take a picture of each card you get. You could even use an app like Artkive (see my blog about archiving your kid’s artwork). Along with other pictures you take around the Holidays, you can then make a nice, neat book each year that looks professional and set them out on the coffee table during the holiday season. I also LOVE this idea from Ashley Ann Photography. Make the pictures of your Christmas cards the photo that pops up when that person calls you! Too cute!

  1. I save all of mine, but they are sitting in a stack in my drawer year after year. I never thought to make a scrapbook or even put in a binder. Thank you for the great ideas. I’m going to make it happen by Christmas next year. 😉
