Children 3 years and older learn FUNdamentals while nurturing plants and animals in a wholesome family environment. Our day starts with chores like feeding the animals and tending the gardens. Each child has their own patch of garden and is responsible for its growth and harvest. The children learn about the changing of seasons and when to plant certain crops by helping in different gardens year-round. All of the kids really seem to enjoy collecting eggs from the nesting boxes attached to the chicken coop and giving treats to the goats, especially when there is a baby that needs to be bottle-fed! Lunches and snacks include some food raised on the farm and other healthy foods, following the USDA Food Program guidelines.
For the preschoolers, the day’s activities include circle time and reading, then crafts and learning through hands-on experiences. One of the many highlights of the play yard is our sandbox. The Little Farmers learn many skills including imaginative play, conflict resolution, negotiation, math reasoning, shapes and science.
